IBA’s Commitment to High Standards in World Championships 🏆
IBA is a federation that upholds high standards, offering seriousness and honesty in all of its world championships. Apart from the four major global boxing federations WBC, WBA, IBF, and WBO which organize world championships featuring fully ranked boxers on a global level, IBA, with its impressive history from the 1990s, never organizes world championships in the way other, minor federations do. These smaller organizations often feature fighters ranked in the top 500, top 400, or top 300, which cannot be compared to the true global ranking standards IBA maintains.
We receive many offers for world titles that we reject because we want to maintain a certain standard and prestige that professional boxing deserves. All our world championships are always held to high standards. We do not want to follow the example of other, minor federations that take the easy route, chasing quick money and offering titles without any credibility. We find it hard to understand how boxers ranked as low as 400th in the world, or even sometimes in the 600s, can be given the opportunity to fight for world titles, or how fighters who have never exceeded six or eight rounds in their careers are offered world title chances. We prefer to organize fewer world championships, but when we do, we ensure they are of the highest quality, in honor of boxing and our legacy.
We have a heritage to uphold. Regarding the memory of Steve Smoger 🙏, a key figure in IBA who always worked for the serious development of our federation, we continue to honor his contributions and commitment to the sport.
Best of Boxing since the 90 ‘ !
