A Fortuitous and Inspiring Meeting in Malaysia
By the greatest of coincidences, the v.President of the IBA recently had the pleasure of meeting the new President of the Professional Boxing Federation of Malaysia, in what turned out to be a truly meaningful and enriching encounter.
It was a very fortunate opportunity to meet one of the most influential figures in Malaysian boxing, Mr. Vivegan Danapalan, a former professional cricket player who has since dedicated himself wholeheartedly to the development and growth of professional boxing in Malaysia. The meeting took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, following a gracious invitation from Mr. Vivegan to share an excellent traditional meal, reflecting the country’s renowned hospitality.
During this convivial exchange, both presidents shared their common and constructive vision for the development of professional boxing in Malaysia, as well as their broader perspectives on the future of combat sports in general. The discussions were open, positive, and forward-looking.
Malaysia is a great nation with a rich cultural heritage and a long history, and boxing is currently experiencing strong growth throughout the country. There is little doubt that Malaysia will soon become an important presence on the global combat sports stage. This momentum was recently highlighted by the crowning of two champions in a Kuala Lumpur organization, athletes of exceptional level, whose achievements were recognized with the direct involvement of the World President himself.
